When a customer came to us with ongoing steering problems on a traditional Dutch barge, we took a close look at the existing hydraulic setup and it was clear why things weren’t working. The original cylinders were wrongly sized for the application and made from carbon steel, a material that simply can’t stand up to the demands of a marine environment. Corrosion had already set in, and the overall system performance was unreliable at best. At Interfluid Hydraulics, problem-solving is what we do best.
After carefully assessing the requirements, we designed and built a pair of custom stainless steel telescopic cylinders — tailored precisely to fit the steering geometry and withstand long-term exposure to the elements. Manufactured in-house using high-grade materials and precision machining, the new cylinders are built to last. Now installed and performing brilliantly, the steering system has been completely transformed.
This project is a perfect example of how our expertise, attention to detail, and commitment to quality deliver results — even in the most specialised settings.
